Achieving Net Zero

Moving To Zero Carbon & Achieving Net Zero

No greater challenge faces our planet than the current climate crisis, as evidenced by an array of overwhelming statistics. It has been illustrated that an inefficient commercial kitchen can significantly contribute to the detriment of the environment, which is why the goal of net-zero carbon emissions within commercial operations is crucial and the first step Macintosh can help you undertake with an array of solutions to achieve this including supporting with applicable government grants.


Our solutions include the following options:


  • Introducing a range of all electric equipment and induction cooking
  • Specifying EnergyStar/A rated combination ovens, smart brat and vario pans
  • Heat recovery systems on dishwashing equipment
  • Heat transfer systems on refrigeration condensers
  • Cold rooms and fridges, with no CFCs (with low GWP preferred)
  • Changing water fixtures to meet 8.31pm @415 kpa
  • 0% mercury content in lighting
  • Evaluating all ceilings, walls, floors in relation materials and high recycled content (ISO 14021), such as EPD certification product specification
  • Segregating waste into at least 5 different types, including mixed paper, corrugated cardboard, glass, plastics and metals
  • Adopting UV-C ventilation systems which allow the use of economical heat-recovery systems whilst purifying any discharged air
  • Using time switches to control display lighting and hotplate controls as part of service counters recommendations
  • Installing energy monitoring systems and water metering on site
  • Training staff on best practices with energy efficiency and solutions
  • Switching to green electric suppliers

Time To Change

Commercial food service kitchens and restaurants face multiple challenges. These include:
